Treatment Costs
Categories of patients
Depending on your circumstances and where you live, you will belong to one of the following categories:
- Many patients live in Health Authorities which pay for a certain number of assisted conception cycles per year. Patients usually have to fulfil certain criteria to be eligible for funding. There is usually a waiting list for such patients and the Health Authority would cover the cost of the cycle and medication.
- If a couple does not fulfil the eligibility criteria for the Health Authority they would have to fund their own treatment if it was considered appropriate. This is called fee paying treatment. Under this arrangement the patient has to cover the cost of the cycle and the medication.
- It is also possible to see the Consultants on a private basis. The cost of the cycle and the medication would need to be paid for by the patient.
If you wish to be seen by one of our Consultants, you will need to go to your GP and asked for a referral letter. The prices quoted below are for fee-paying patients per cycle, for the financial year starting 1st April 2010 - 31st March 2011. (These prices will change in the next financial year.)
